Theocharis Tsoutsos, Professor, Lab Director – Technical University of Crete (TUC)

Founder & Director, Renewable & Sustainable Energy Lab (ReSEL) (2005-); TUC Scientific Committee (Member, 2018-); TUC Lifelong Centre (Member, 2021-); School Management Committee (Member, 2013-2017); Graduate Programme “Environmental Engineering” (Director, 2014-2017); Coordinator, TUC-Energy Group (2013-2017). He has also taught in the Graduate Courses of Open University (UK), Kingston University, Herriot Watt, University of West Attica, Greek Open University. Teaching/research topics: sustainability, design of energy and transport systems, sustainable cities.
Theocharis has been working in the Sustainable Energy and Mobility field for 30+ years. He has been the Head of the Development Department of the Centre for Renewable Energy Sources and Saving – CRES (1992- 2005). Member of the Management Council of the RéseauMéditerranéen des Ecolesd’Ingénieurs et de Management (RMEI, 2018-). Member of the Steering Committee of the European Technology and Innovation Platform on Renewable Heating & Cooling (RHC-ETIP, 2018-). Active member of the EURECA-PRO European University initiative.
Theocharis has participated in several R&D projects (H2020, IEE2, IEE, Interreg MED, COST, Erasmus, FP7, FP6, FP5, ALTENER, SAVE, LEONARDO, JEAN-MONNET): ~50 as coordinator, 60+ as participating expert and ~100 as a scientific collaborator.
He is assigned as project proposal evaluator of the European Commission (REA, INEA, European Research Council, Erasmus-Mundus), General Secretary of Research & Technology-ELIDEK, State Scholarship Foundation (GR), Research Promotion Foundation (CY), Russian Research Foundation, Ministry of Education & Science of the Russian Federation, New Eurasia Foundation (RU); (CY), Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF); Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NL); Welsh Government (UK).
Theocharis is the author of 100+ peer-reviewed publications in international scientific journals, 20+ book chapters, 200+ publications in Int. conferences and counts 5,500+ citations, h-factor:28 (Scopus); 32 (Google Scholar).
