Dr. Kanellina Giannakopoulou, Associate of the Environment & Transport Department

Dr. Kanellina Giannakopoulou has studied Chemical Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens and has been awarded a PhD in Renewable Energy Sources from the Technical University of Graz (Austria). She has worked for three years as a researcher at Joanneum Research in Austria, where she participated in national and European projects on energy efficiency and renewable energy, with special focus on biofuels and solar thermal energy applications in industries. Since 2011, she has been working at CRES, offering technical expertise to European and national projects in the field of sustainable development in the transport and building sector, energy autonomy of local communities, rational energy use and energy efficiency in households. 

She has also participated in the national program EXOIKONOMO (NSRF 2007-2013), which aimed to increase energy saving of municipalities through the realization of energy efficient interventions in public buildings, public open-space areas, urban transport and other municipal infrastructures. 

She has represented CRES in national working groups for the transposition of European directives, related to energy, into national law. She is a CRES representative at the EnR working group of Energy Labelling and Ecodesign.
