HARMONY Model Suite, Transport planning, Simulation models, SUMPs

HARMONY aims to lead the sustainable transition to a low-carbon new mobility era, by developing a Model Suite (MS) that harmonises spatial and multimodal transport planning models. HARMONY MS provides the capability to its users to comprehensively model the dynamicity of the changing transport sector and spatial organisation in urban and regional areas. It is a multi-scale, software-agnostic, integrated activity-based model system that integrates new and existing sub-models. HARMONY MS can be combined with independent modelling and planning tools already in use in different metropolitan areas, while its own sub-models includes the following simulators: (a) Strategic Simulator for regional economic, demographic forecasting, land-use, spatial freight interaction and long-term mobility choice models; (b) Tactical Simulator for a fully agent-based passenger and freight demand model; and (c) Operational Simulator for transport supply and demand interactions at high granularity. The results stemming from the deployment of the Model Suite in Athens and Rotterdam will be presented.
